Bloomsbury as we know it today dates from the 13th Century and the de Blumend family. Branches of this family gave their name to many of the existing squares and streets; Russell, Woburn, Tavistock, and Bedford Place itself on which stands the Lonsdale Hotel. Steeped in history, the area retains much of the flavour of an important part of London's and indeed England's heritage.

Directions
From London Heathrow Airport- Heathrow Express to Paddington station in 15 minutes and from there take train into Russell square station which is 2 mins walk to the hotel.
From London Gatwick Airport- Gatwick Express to Victoria station and then tube into Russell Square station or Holborn which are both a short walk to the hotel.
By Road -
Take M4 - A4 to Central London.
At Piccadilly take A401 Shaftesbury Avenue to Oxford Street. Continue Along Bloomsbury Way. Take left turn into Southampton Row A4200.
Take 1st left turn then 1st right into Bedford Place
By Rail -
Take the underground Piccadilliy line to Holborn Station.
Hotel is within walking distance of the station.
